A. Marjean Werries Scholarship

Deadline: April 21, 2017

The Academic Achievement & Access Center will award up to three scholarships for undergraduates and two scholarships for graduate students for the 2017-18 academic year. Should no graduate students apply; up to five undergraduate students will be awarded.  Award notices will go out electronically by May 5, 2017.  Questions may be directed to Kim Bates, Interpreter Coordinator at kimbates@ku.edu.

Qualified applicants must:

  1. Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with a documented hearing loss
  2. Be registered with the Academic Achievement & Access Center
  3. Demonstrate financial need by having a current FAFSA on file with the KU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
  4. Satisfy one of the following GPA or ACT/SAT requirements  as appropriate to your student status
    • First time, full time freshman: 3.25 cumulative high school GPA or minimum 24 ACT or 1090-1120 SAT score
    • Continuing undergraduate or transfer students: minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
    • Graduate students: minimum 3.5 GPA
  5. Submit the following:
    • a two page (typed, double spaced, with 1 inch margins) personal statement describing your previous academic achievements and present academic and career goals
    • KU Advising Report OR copy of ACT/SAT score report and high school transcript if applicable
    • documentation of disability unless you have already submitted it to the Academic Achievement & Access Center during the registration process
