Exam Accommodations Procedures

Students and faculty should be aware of the following policies and procedures as they apply to accommodated exams:

  • The administration of examinations is the responsibility of the faculty and course instructors.  Students with disabilities/medical conditions may require accommodations to ensure they have equal access to the examination process.
  • Students are responsible for requesting accommodations on all exams. Requests for non-final exams must be received three business days before the in-class exam is scheduled. Final exam accommodations must be received ten business days before the final day of classes for the semester. Students submitting late requests may be asked to make arrangements with their instructor for accommodations.
  • All accommodated exams will be scheduled to begin at the same time as the in-class exam unless instructor consent has been made to reschedule, or when adding extended time to the end of an exam causes a conflict with the student's scheduled classes.
  • Faculty members and Student Access Center should have on file a copy of the completed Accommodated Notification Form (AN) before exam accommodations can be coordinated.
  • Students are expected to follow the UASC Test Center Rules, which are posted inside and outside of the Testing Center in Room 30 Strong Hall. Any instance or suspicion of academic misconduct will be reported to the instructor.
  • A rule in the testing center is to hang backpacks, coats and purses on hooks at the front of the room. Because KU policy requires that a concealed handgun must be physically on the person carrying it, this leaves students with limited choices. Students can transfer a handgun from a backpack or purse to a secure location (such as the trunk of their locked vehicle or a gun safe in their residence) prior to arriving at the UASC testing center, or students can carry the handgun concealed on their body.
